As the lead partner in a joint venture, McKissack provided construction management services for the new Academic Sciences Building at Medgar Evers College. The facility is a five-story, 194,000 SF building housing the School of Science, Health and Technology. With increased classroom space and expanded course and program offerings, the new building promotes academic and intellectual exchange in an environment that enhances the teaching and learning experience. The building features a two-story glass pavilion/dining hall that seats 500. The dining hall also serves as a multi-purpose room used for lectures, concerts, social functions, large meetings, and conferences.   The five story facility is home to 13 state-of-the-art computer enabled classrooms, 16 teaching labs (biology, mathematics, nursing physical environment and computer sciences), five computer labs, a 120-seat lecture hall, and a 350-seat dining hall with adjoining kitchen. The main entrance lobby is designed for flexible use, including exhibits, receptions, large meetings and lectures.

McKissack’s scope of work included pre-construction activities; soliciting and collecting pre-construction documents; managing the bid and award of 24 prime construction contracts; managing the CM project field staff including MEP, architectural and structural disciplines; coordinating daily construction activities; and monitoring and updating project schedules.
