SEPTA on Call General Engineering Consulting:
McKissack served as a prime and also as a subconsultant on SEPTA’s General Engineering Consultant (GEC) contract providing project management and inspections for various projects.
As a prime, McKissack’s projects included the following:
- 69th Street West Terminal Improvements: $22 million – Improvements included new steel structure, glass curtain wall, storefronts, high albedo roof with lower green roof canopy along perimeter of building. The interior fit-out included new MEP equipment with an automated energy management system, finishes and passive solar and sustainable design concepts. The North platform was reconstructed with a green roof canopy, new MEP system and precast wall system. Site-work included new utilities, storm water system, catenary supports, landscaped areas with a green wall system and ADA improvements throughout the project.
- Wyndmoor Station Renovation: $2.2 million – Renovations included infrastructure and improvements to the aesthetic details of this historic train station, repairing structural steel columns, removing and replacing approximately 600 feet of platform decking on the inbound and outbound platforms, installing new three-ply cold applied roofing material throughout, and installing over 1,000 lineal feet of metal fascia material to correspond to this 1930 vintage architecture.
- Wayne Junction Traction Power Substation Rehabilitation: $26 million – Rehabilitation work included the removal of existing substation ground floor control room circuit breaker cabinets, new control room equipment, removal and replacement of all the outdoor circuit breakers, replacement of windows and roof, masonry restoration, prepping and painting the existing steel structure components, site security systems The electrical switchgear and bus & feeder replacements were completed in 14 site specific work plan stages without interruption to service for six commuter rail lines serving a 50-mile radius of Center City Philadelphia.
McKissack, under two contracts, served as a subconsultant providing project management, inspection and scheduling services. Projects under these contracts included:
- 15th Street Station Renovation: $17 million – Renovation included installation of five elevators, the reconfiguration of fare lines at the 15th Street Mezzanine level and the two 16th Street entrance/exits, new welfare facilities, floor wall and ceiling treatments, new power distribution system, new lighting system, new fire alarm system, new CCTV system, new active and passage signage, new drainage piping, new fire suppression system and new cold-water piping.
- Elwyn to Wawa Service Extension: $100M – Scheduling services for this project included attending monthly progress and schedule update meetings in the field office; reviewing and commenting on the baseline schedule for acceptance; reviewing and commenting on the contractor’s monthly schedule updates; and advising SEPTA on delay claims.
