SUNY Maritime College New Academic Building:
McKissack provided construction management services to State University Construction Fund (the Fund) for the construction of a new three-story 45,000 sq. ft. academic building at SUNY Maritime College on its historic Fort Schuyler campus. The LEED Silver project included classrooms, lecture halls, a two-story multi-purpose area and conference center, relocation of the campus loop road, site utilities, existing seawall repair and sheet piles. The building exterior assemblies included a stone panel rain screen, curtain wall system featuring shadow box assemblies and sun screens. An overhead aluminum blade trellis on the roof terrace provides for views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. McKissack provided overall administration, coordination, monitoring and inspection of the work of the contractors for this project.
Specific responsibilities included reviewing change proposals from the contractors for cost reasonableness, validity, and completeness and providing recommendations to the Fund; scheduling and conducting job progress and job coordination meetings; assisting the contractors in establishing a comprehensive safety program for the project and monitoring compliance; reviewing coordination drawings and shop drawings for coordination and fit; coordinating and scheduling required testing and special inspections and reviewing the monitoring the performance and adverse of findings, overseeing and inspecting the work of the contractors; and overseeing and coordinating the commissioning of building systems by the contractors and project consultants.
