SUNY Purchase Exterior Rehabilitations – Dining Hall:
McKissack provided construction management services for the exterior rehabilitation of the Dining Hall at the State University College at Purchase. The project restored the building in order to preserve assets, restored water-tightness, and improved energy performance. The scope of work included new landscaping and a new concrete paver plaza, replacement of roof with durable new construction exceeding energy code minimums; reconstruction, repair, repointing, and cleaning of masonry and supporting elements; replacement of doors, windows, curtainwall, storefront, atrium, clerestory, and skylights with new high performance units and systems; reconstruction and repairs to surrounding site work, including plazas, paths and building foundations to improve water-tightness and user safety; abatement of hazardous materials; mechanical and lighting upgrades; and additional work items intended to improve integrity of building envelopes, energy efficiency, usability, and health and safety. The complete exterior envelope restoration included the removal of a plaza that was over the kitchen area of the dining hall.
For this work, McKissack managed a third-party monitor for the asbestos abatement and managed all the consultants monitoring the waterproofing and roofing activities. The project required coordination and oversight of maintenance of building entries and exits, and pedestrian protection and site safety.
