Cheryl McKissack Daniel Honored by Grace Institute for Her Leadership and Legacy

Trailblazer. Visionary. Champion for women. These are just a few words that describe Cheryl McKissack Daniel, who was recently honored by the Grace Institute for her remarkable contributions to business, leadership, and community empowerment.

The Grace Institute, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women achieve economic self-sufficiency through job training and career development, recognized Cheryl for her outstanding achievements as President & CEO of McKissack & McKissack, the nation’s oldest minority- and woman-owned construction and design firm.

At the event, Cheryl took the stage to share her story — a legacy five generations in the making. She spoke passionately about the importance of perseverance, mentorship, and opening doors for other women, particularly in industries where they have been historically underrepresented.

In her closing remarks, Cheryl reminded the audience that “when we lift each other up, we move the entire world forward.” Her words were a powerful reflection of the Grace Institute’s mission and the values that have guided her own journey as a fifth-generation leader.

From mentorship to advocacy, Cheryl continues to pave the way for women and underrepresented voices in industries that are being reshaped by equity and vision.

Being honored by the Grace Institute is not just a recognition of her accomplishments—it’s a celebration of her commitment to empowering others to rise with her.

As Cheryl said that morning:

“There’s no greater legacy than being the one who opens the door—and holds it open.”
